First off -- 100th post. Just saying. Took me long enough to get here.
Topic of conversation for the 100th post? Alex Trochut. He is an artist from Barcelona whose work stands out. You may have seen things he has done for Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, New York Magazine, Audi, ESPN Magazine plus many others. Most of his pieces revolve around original and unique typography. However, Trochut caught my attention with quirky, ceramic, skateboards in the collection, "Skate Fails." The works were completed in collaboration with his friend Apparatu (who you should check out as well, because he does great stuff). Why do I, a girl who has never skated in her life, like "Skate Fails?" Because who would have thought a skateboard could look so cool constructed out of something other than wood and in the shape of an accordion, melting, dripping, splattered or bent out of shape? It is all about looking at things differently, huh!?
