I am quite certain that I have found one of my new favorite websites -- Pictory. Pictory is a place where photos from all over the world are submitted with a simple caption - hence the name "pictory" (picture + story). Submissions are compiled in order to make up wonderful photo essays. The creator of the site does a much more eloquent job of explaining the purpose here.
The showcase on Pictory that caught my eye today was, "Life Lessons." Scrolling through beautiful pictures of people who mean so much to someone and then reading lessons learned is a great way to reflect and spend a Sunday afternoon.
Some of my favorite lessons captioned by the photographers:
- “Good intentions have the same look as nothing”
- “I can’t hear you because your actions speak so loudly.”
- "Always paint your fingernails (first stripe in the center, then left, then right)."
- "Whatever you are wearing, have definition around the waist."
- "Wear comfortable shoes."
- "Match by pattern, not by colour (she was colourblind)."
- "It’s okay if nobody else understands."
- "Tend to your own garden."
- "There are more important things in life than whatever is bothering you today."
- "Sometimes you need to believe -- in other people and life"
